Dr. Ahmed Yousef the Head of HOW Board of Trustees welcomed the guests and confirmed that HOW is always interested in raising topics of the Palestinian affairs.

Dr. Ibrahim Abrash – a lecturer of Political science at AL-Azhar University – said that it is unfortunate the Palestinians moved to fighting on governments and Ministries and not focusing on confronting the Occupation. Dr. Abrash said that Fayyad when he came as Minister of Finance he was financial expert but after that Fayyad became ambitious about politics and formed a Political bloc where he won to enter the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006. And during Fayyad was a Prime Minister in the West Bank, a lot of pressures and conditions were on his government which make his government unable to fulfill its duties as promised. Dr. Abrash refuted allegations accusing Fayyad being an obstacle for the reconciliation.

From his side, Dr. A’ed Yaghi – from the National Initiative – said that the Palestinian situation is tragic because of having two conflicting governments one in the Gaza Strip and the other in the West Bank, Dr. Yaghi said that there are a number of scenarios of Fayyad resignation, raising the probability of achieving reconciliation after Fayyad’s resignation.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Abu Sa’da read the outcomes of the speakers on Fayyad’s resignation in the following points:

–          The Presence of the Occupation in the West Bank.

–          The lack of a political party for Salam Fayyad where he can rely on.

–          Fayyad was being faced with a number of corrupted figures, whom they saw him as hindering them.

–          The conditions imposed on financing the Palestinian Authority, and giving the priority to the West Bank only.

–          Relying on the external aids and Loans.
