2/12/2015 , Previous Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad paid one–day visit to Gaza Strip in order to give a seminar entitled ” Towards a national vision to unify Palestinian ranks ” in Commodore Hotel .
The visit comes due to the personal invitation of the Institute of the House of Wisdom, where he met elite of intellectuals, journalists and businessmen to launch the initiative of Palestinian national unity.
The meeting was opened by Dr. Ahmed Youssef welcomed attendees and calling for the need for reunification. For his part, Dr. Salam Fayyad thanked Dr. Ahmed Youssef for this initiative and called for the immediate commencement of reunification at this particular stage and introduction of the reasons to face the Palestinian’s challenges. In the same context, Dr. Salam Fayyad stressed on the need to pay attention to what you can and employ political pluralism, that it does not mean cancel or cancel parts of it, to proceed of the case of the Palestinian people by starting the procures of ending the Division and dealt with it realistically and objectively to reach to an formula on the Palestinian national project. He added that Intifada had not started since last October but it began with the murder of Mohammed Abu khudair.
Fayyad suggested the need for convening a fair national Council where the fateful decisions is made for Palestinians and brought the Palestinian Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people as he described, in crossing the resolution by the Council itself. In addition, he stressed that the Government’s function will be easier with the presence of Legislative Council.
It is noteworthy that Fayyad has been subjected to recantatoin by the audience on the background his tenure as Prime Minister during the division and his role of Promotion Division as they claimed.
Dr. Salam Fayyad concluded by stressing the need to unite the Palestinian people and demand ultimately an opportunity for understanding and need to stop prejudging and thinking well.
Mr. Jamil Majdalawi , leader in the popular front for the liberation, delivered his speech about Palestine reconciliation and noted the need to unite efforts to accomplish this file in the history of the Palestinian.
This meeting comes within the framework of the efforts of the Institute of the House of wisdom to end the Division and strengthen the unity of the Palestinian.
