26 Oct 2016, Within the framework of enhancing the local and international collaboration and being interconnected with the international associations
a Norwegian delegation visited the House of Wisdom Institute to look through the political and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The delegation represented Landinfo Association (The Norwegian Country of Origin Information Centre), and included MS. Gro Hasselknippe – the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration and the Immigration Appeals Board, and Mr. Are Hovdenak – Senior Adviser of the Middle East Region.
The delegation met with Dr. Ahmed Youssef – Head of Board of Director, and Mr. Mohammed AlQattawi – the Projects Manager, Dr. Youssef reviewed the social, economical situations witnessed by Palestinians in Gaza under the recurrent developments, where the Gaza is being exposed to a strangling blockade more than ten years, and the repeated wars which murdered and displaced thousands of victims. In addition, he addressed the political situation, which is affected by the political division between the two Palestinian sides. Moreover, Dr. Youssef represented the role of the House of Wisdom in restoring the unity through organizing conferences and seminars in order to provide a platform for understanding between both conflict sides.
From her side, MS. Gro Hasselknippe stated that the visit aims to look deeply through the political and livelihood situation in the Gaza Strip, and confirmed on the concern of the Norwegian government towards the Palestinian cause.
As well as, Mr. Are Hovdenak stressed on the continued support of the Norwegian government towards the two-state solution and building a Palestinian State, then expressed the solidarity of Norwegian people with the Palestinian people.
