On 23-9-2018, the House of Wisdom Institute for Consultation and Conflict Resolution organized a training day within the training program “Palestinian Novel and Western Media: Challenges and Aspirations”. Where the institute hosted the New Zealand professor Alistair Thompson, who spoke about the Palestine issue under the title “Palestine in the age of stupidity”.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Yousif welcomed the guest and expressed his thanks and appreciation for the participation of Mr. Ulster in this meeting, and then allowed Professor Huda Jolie, the media activist, to introduce Mr. Alster. After that Mr. Alster spoke about his life. In the field of journalism and social media, and then highlighted the title of his lecture, showing that the era of lies and false news and the transfer of facts from one point of view in a way that serves the dominant and powerful.
He also talked about the Arab Spring and the Israeli return and aggression march between 2008 and 2014, where he presented some statistics, which witnessed an increase in the number of Palestinian martyrs, and in return a decrease in the number of Israelis killed from one aggression to another. In this context, Mr. Alastair showed what is meant by the “stupid era” of the Palestinian conflict. He included some points under this heading, stating his opinion and then closing his lecture by saying that Palestine is on the right track – a peaceful conflict with a media focus – and therefore the Palestinians must rely on themselves And do not expect the support of any person or entity in order to achieve the freedom and justice required.
