HOW institute organizes a conference in cooperation with Arab Cogito.
House of Wisdom- Gaza
On 13 Dec. 2018, House of Wisdom for Consultation and Conflict Resolution, in cooperation with Arab Cogito, organized a conference entitled: “The Palestinian Intellectual and Contemporary Challenges – Deal of the Century” at the Commodore Hotel in Gaza.
Mr. Wael Al-Mabhouh, the director of Arab Cogito in Gaza, the head of House of Wisdom Dr. Ahmed Youssef, and a number of interested and important people took part in the conference.
Mr. Wael Al Mabhouh, the director of the Arab Cogito in Gaza, welcomed the participants. Al-Mabhouh said, “We appreciate the role of the Arab intellectual in the local cases, especially the Palestinian cause, and we seek to dedicate that role by unifying the efforts of Arab intellectuals in different locations and countries.”
Al Mabhouh called to confront the state of division in all its forms and to increase awareness of cultural and religious groups in order to consolidate the common Arab identity and to appreciate the Arabic language.
Dr. Ahmed Youssef opened the first session of the conference in which Dr. Ibrahim Abrach spoke about the implications of the deal of the century on the chances of the establishment of a Palestinian state within the limits of 67. In the same context, Mr. Yousry Al Ghul talked about the Palestinian position from The Deal of the Century and its role in facing it.
Father Manuel Musallam closed the first session by speaking about the view of religious currents towards the Deal of the Century from a Christian perspective.
In the second session opened by Mr. Yousry Al-Ghul, Mr. Ghareeb al-Asqalani spoke about the responsibility of the Palestinian intellectual towards its national cases. While Mr. Akram Atallah spoke about the role of intellectuals in facing the deal of the century, Mr. Tawfiq Abu Shumer talked about the tools and methods of Palestinian intellectuals in facing the deal of the century. In addition, Mr. Abdullah Tayeh spoke about the Palestinian literature and its role in confronting and exposing the false of the Zionist occupation.
The conference ended with discussions focusing mainly on the deal of the century and the need to confront it with literature and culture as a means of Palestinian resistance.
