9 August 2017, the House of Wisdom Institute (HoW) organized two seminars with Dr. Nihad Sheikh-Khalil, Professor of Contemporary History at Islamic University of Gaza.
The two seminars tackled the role of the Palestinian youth in the Palestinian political system and the foreign policy, including discussions and brainstorming on youth perspectives on the capabilities and power sources they need to challenge the marginalization they face from the political system, factions and the civil society organizations. In addition, Dr. Sheikh-Khalil confirmed that the Palestinian youth should initiate their own initiatives within clear framework and objectives, without being used by any party. He also confirmed that making any change in community, needs a deep and comprehensive understanding of the current political situation. Therefore, Dr. Sheikh-Khalil called upon the young generation to read more and more and benefit from history and experiences of civil societies. It is noteworthy to mention that these two seminars come in the context of a training program for enhancing the political participation for the Palestinian youth, which targets 60 youths; the training will be taking place until next mid-September 2017.
