5-2-2014, The Head of UNRWA operation in the Gaza Strip Mr. Robert Terner met with community leaders and academics in Gaza.
Mr. Terner presented to the attendants the services UNRWA will provide the Gaza Strip with during 2014, Mr. Terner also spoke on UNRWA’s contributions in solving the Gaza crises such as the Fuel crisis, the Crossings crisis and bringing construction materials to Gaza Crisis.
Mr. Terner said that during 2014, UNRWA will create 17,000 temporary jobs for the people of the Gaza Strip which will decrease the effects of the siege. He added that money allocated for the Sumer games projects in 2014 will be transferred to the relief projects due to bad need of allocations in the relief field.
One of the attendants questions was about UNRWA cutting of assistances and allowances to a big number of Palestinians. Mr. Terner denied this and said what UNRWA did is just a procedure to update the information of the beneficiaries.
It is worth mention that UNRWA meets on regular basis Gaza community leaders at the House of Wisdom.
